Committees
We are an active neighborhood and are able to accomplish all that we do with the help of many volunteers on our numerous committees.
Active Transportation Committee
Humanizing Transit
We are a neighborhood group with a mission to build community and connect neighborhoods by making walking, biking, and public transit safe, accessible, and pleasant.
All ages and abilities are welcome. If you want to join but need a bike, reach out!
Garden Committee
Bryn Mawr has a strong gardening tradition. This includes ongoing, public beautification projects and the more private efforts that make Bryn Mawr one of the most lovely of neighborhoods to live in and visit.
So pick up a spade, pull a weed, tend a seedling – you’re in good company here!
Schools Committee
The Bryn Mawr neighborhood is home to two Minneapolis public schools, Bryn Mawr Community School, grades pre K-5 and Anwatin Middle School: International Baccalaureate World School.
Safety Committee
Bryn Mawr is a neighborhood with a low crime rate and a high percentage of engaged neighbors.
Community Projects
The Community Projects program has been in place for over a decade. Each year we ask neighbors to suggest projects that improve livability and safety in Bryn Mawr. These projects are mainly supported with sweat equity and donations, with a small contribution from association dollars.
Parks Committee
Known locally as “a neighborhood within a park”, Bryn Mawr is bordered on all sides by parks and green space. These include Bassett Creek and Bassett Creek Park on the north, Bryn Mawr Meadows Park on the east, Theodore Wirth Park on the west and Cedar Lake along with the Kenilworth Corridor grassland area on the east and south.
Racial Justice Committee
There was widespread reaction to the murder of George Floyd in Minneapolis in May 2020. The Bryn Mawr Neighborhood Association (BMNA) acted by creating an initiative to address issues of racial justice highlighted by George Floyd’s death. Read about our vision and initiatives by clicking below.
