About the Environmental Sustainability Committee

The Environmental Sustainability Committee is a neighborhood group dedicated to caring for our shared spaces and building community through simple, meaningful action. From our Adopt-a-Drain efforts to neighborhood cleanups and other hands-on projects, we work together to protect our local environment and keep our streets, waterways, and public spaces healthy and beautiful.

All ages and abilities are welcome. Whether you can join regularly or just once in a while, your participation makes a difference.

Protect Our Lakes and Rivers—Right Here in Bryn Mawr

Want a simple way to keep our lakes and rivers clean? Green Guardians MN, a new volunteer group, is making it easy for neighbors to get involved.

One of the easiest ways to help is through the Adopt-a-Drain program. Here’s how it works:

  1. Visit mn.adopt-a-drain.org. Enter your address to see the storm drains near your home.

  2. Select a drain—or several—that you’d like to “adopt.”

  3. Keep your drain clear of leaves, trash, and other debris. It only takes a few minutes each month, especially after storms and during fall leaf drop.

  4. Prevent that debris from flowing into our lakes and rivers.

  5. Give your adopted drain a name—anything from witty to whimsical.

To add some extra fun, add your storm drain’s name to https://tinyurl.com/Adopt-A-Drain-Bryn-Mawr for a chance to win a $50 Uptown gift card.

That’s all it takes. Quick, free, and surprisingly impactful. The more drains we adopt, the cleaner our waters will be.

If you’d like to join the Bryn Mawr Adopt-a-Drain team or participate in upcoming Neighborhood Clean-Up Days, email Jillian Lydell, Area 6 and Adopt-A-Drain Rep at jillian.lydell@bmna.org.

Let’s show some Bryn Mawr pride while protecting the waters we all enjoy.
