Safe Routes to Schools: Phase I

Exciting News!!!

Bryn Mawr Elementary school has been awarded a Safe Routes to Schools Planning Grant! We will be collaborating with the school to create a strategic plan now through May 2026, and we need your help. Please reach out to us to get involved.

Advocacy

We are striving towards a more walkable, pleasant environment in our neighborhood. Our outreach efforts include meeting with local elected officials and municipal city planners to share ideas about how to make Bryn Mawr more connected.

Help us build bridges where everyone can walk, bike, and roll across.

Meetings

The Active Transportation Committee meets the first Tuesday of every month at 6:30pm. Meeting location is typically in the More Light room at the Bryn Mawr Presbyterian Church at 420 Cedar Lake Rd S, Minneapolis. (Reach out to us to confirm!)

Our Vision

“Our vision is to connect the people of the Bryn Mawr and adjacent neighborhoods to build a vibrant, healthy, and sustainable community.  We envision a neighborhood community where people can, and want, to use active transportation for daily trips to schools, groceries, cafes, entertainment, etc.

Multi-modal trips will be simple, reliable, and pleasant forms of transportation. We want to make walking and biking not only safe and accessible, but also easy to use and inviting so that people of all different ages, gender, race, and socio-economic levels can choose active transportation because of its benefits for their own health, the health of our neighborhood, and the health of our shared environment.

By accomplishing this in Bryn Mawr, we will demonstrate that this can be done in all parts of Minneapolis and Hennepin County.”
